Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who is Desktop Composer for?

Desktop Composer is for people who want fast, consistent customization of their Mac’s appearance — system settings and supported app themes included. If you like changing your setup for focus, mood, or a clean screen‑sharing look, it’s built for you.

  • How is this different from macOS built-in settings?

macOS lets you change settings one by one. Desktop Composer lets you save them as profiles and switch everything at once — including themes of supported apps.

  • Can I change just one thing without switching the whole profile?

Yes. You can update a single option inside a profile without recreating it or affecting other settings.

  • Can I schedule my desktop profiles?

Yes. You can automatically switch profiles based on time of day.

  • What are the system requirements?

Desktop Composer requires macOS 26 or newer.

  • Is it a one-time payment or a subscription?

It's a one-time payment. Each license covers the current major version (for example 1.x). Future major upgrades (like 2.0) may require a paid upgrade.

  • Does the app synchronize data via iCloud?

Yes, Desktop Composer uses iCloud to synchronize your profiles across devices.

  • Is the app be available on Setapp?

Yes, Desktop Composer is available on Setapp.

  • Will it be available on the Mac App Store?

No. Due to App Store restrictions, it’s not possible to change all system and app appearance settings from a sandboxed app.

  • Will Desktop Composer support more apps in the future?

Yes, we're going to add more apps. If you have any particular app that supports themes, let us know.

  • Will all features always work in the future?

Desktop Composer depends on how macOS and third-party applications handle appearance settings. Because these systems and apps may change over time, we can’t guarantee that every feature will always continue to work as expected. Therefor, we cannot be responsible for functionality affected by future updates of macOS or other developers’ software.
