Meet Desktop Composer Beta

Sometimes I like to tune up my desktop — you know, change my wallpaper, code editor theme, terminal colors, or system appearance (I really like both light and dark mode). And sometimes even more settings — or themes of other apps.
But it takes time and effort, so usually I just change the wallpaper and system appearance.

What if?

Yep, meet Desktop Composer — the app that changes everything with one click.

Desktop Composer remembers as many settings as possible: wallpaper, appearance (light or dark), Dock preferences (visibility, size, position), visibility of icons, widgets and the menu bar, accent color, and — since macOS Tahoe introduced more options — folder colors, as well as icon & widget styles.

But there’s more. The app also remembers Terminal and Xcode themes.
And why stop there? Desktop Composer also works with SideNotes, FiveNotes, ForkLift, Alfred, Bear, and NotePlan — and we have plans for more apps to come.

Your profiles are automatically synced via iCloud, so they stay available across all your Macs. And just to be safe, Desktop Composer also creates local backups of your profiles.

Editing: System

The app isn’t vibe-coded. It’s made by a real human, using real hands on a real keyboard. :)

When?

Today we’re releasing a public beta. We’d like to add new features — but we’d also love to hear your feedback.

Version 1.0 will be released as soon as we feel it’s ready.

Price?

The app will be distributed as a one-time payment, just like all other paid apps we’ve made — one payment per major release, with free minor updates.
Just like it used to be before subscriptions became the new normal. We’re happily old-fashioned here.
The price hasn’t been decided yet, but it will likely be somewhere between $7.99 and $19.99.

The app will be also available on Setapp.

System requirements

Desktop Composer requires macOS Tahoe — especially since it supports new Tahoe features like folder colors and icon & widget styles.
The app will not be available on the Mac App Store — sandboxed apps simply can’t change all these system settings.
