License Store 1.0 Released

A little while ago, I realized I had simply accumulated too many app licenses. They tend to end up scattered across emails, random folders, notes, and downloads, and that becomes a problem the moment you actually need one.

In my case, a big part of that information had actually ended up in SideNotes, which worked well for keeping it close at hand. But eventually it became clear that I wanted a dedicated app made specifically for this job. That is how License Store started.

License Store is a place to keep license keys, license files, invoices, download links, notes, and expiration dates together. When it is time to reinstall an app, move to a new Mac, or check an old purchase, the information is already there.

One thing that mattered to me from the start was that the app should feel beautiful to use. License management is a practical task, but that does not mean the interface has to feel like a spreadsheet or a generic database window. I spent a lot of time refining both the preview and edit views, and one of my favorite details is that the background adapts to the colors of the currently selected app icon. It makes the whole app feel more alive.

Preview and editing are separate views. You can switch between them with 1 and 2.

Dark mode also looks great:

Adding apps had to feel simple too. You can import them from .app files or use Find & Import Apps to scan your Mac.

From preview mode, you can quickly copy the license key or email, see the notes, open the app website, go to the download page, export the license to another format, or open any attachment:

And when you select multiple licenses, export is right there. That makes it easy to move data elsewhere, keep an extra copy, or open it in other apps as JSON, CSV, or License File (.ls). It is your data, and you should be able to use it however you want.

There is also iCloud sync, automatic local backups, and URL-based automation. It is not the kind of app you use all day, but when you do need a license, it should be there immediately, feel clear, and work exactly as expected.

Pricing, Download, and Availability

License Store 1.0 is available now via direct download as a 30-day trial and on the App Store.
